Nick has been heavily involved in charitable projects both in the UK and abroad for the past 25 years, initially as a Rotarian which saw him take part in two Polio immunisation days in India 2010 and 2015, help set up three Microfinance projects in India, support a girl’s education in Swaziland, and furnish a house for orphaned Children in Belarus. Nick was also District Governor for Rotary District 1080 (East Anglia) 2014-15

Nick was a trustee for the Mills Charity in Framlingham from 2010 to 2022 and was instrumental in the development of 14 alms-house for families in Framlingham that won the coveted Alms-house Patrons award in 2019. Nick also oversaw, as Chairman of the Charity, six more Alms houses for families in Badingham Road Framlingham.

In 2011 Nick set up and ran, with his colleagues from the Framlingham Rotary Club, Hour Community, a community project to help the less able with jobs around their houses and gardens, it has now developed into a need led Community project providing:- Community transport for those in need of transport to and from medical appointments such as doctors, dentist and hospitals, they also provide outings for the local care home and for their dementia and mental health clubs. The Forget me not Club (dementia friendly lunch club) attracts at least 30 people per month and the Worry tree cafe (mental Health drop in cafe) supports between 20 and 30 people per week. The Charity has also set up a Men’s and ladies Shed and a furniture project.  They also offer a befriending service, a help in the home service (DIY, shopping and prescription delivery) and have two Trishaws that they use to take residents of the local Care home out for half hour cycle rides in the countryside. 

The project became a standalone Charity in 2016 and Nick was appointed CEO. They have over 40 volunteers delivering over 7000 hours of voluntary service in community every year, have the support both financially and physically of local businesses and have helped many hundreds of people in the community. They were awarded a Queens Award for Voluntary service in 2021.
